Altaluvia is the most faithful expression of the best of Uco Valley, its height and Gualtallary. Its grape is different due to its unique location. This is why Altaluvia is magnificent in the inside, from the deepest of its soils, and in the outside, to the highest picks of the vineyard.

Gualtallary, Mendoza’s Greatest Cru

This district located in Tupungato, Uco Valley, is the region of Mendoza with the highest vineyards. At 1,350mts above sea level, the soil composition, its cool days and cold evenings, make this region an area of excellence.

CABERNET FRANC

TASTING NOTES

Fine and elegant due to the combination of spices and red fruit, adding authority and good balance. A wine of great typicity and firm tannins which makes this Cabernet Franc current and modern.

VINIFICATION

The grapes are hand-picked during the first week of April. day time, at the end of March. The wine is aged in second and third use French oak barrels for sixteen months.

MALBEC

TASTING NOTES

Restless and versatile, this wine exhibits the typical minerality from Gualtallary’s calcareous soils with descriptors like chalk. A Malbec with sharp tannins, an elegant texture and persistent in mouth.

VINIFICATION

The grapes are hand-picked and its fermentation is made in stainless-steel tanks during twenty-five days. 10% is aged for sixteen months in second and third use French oak barrels.

CHARDONNAY

TASTING NOTES

Fresh and modern, this Chardonnay is Altaluvia’s queen. With a good volume in mouth achieved by the aging in French oak barrels of second use for seven months, and other seven months in cement egg to highlight the texture in mouth.

VINIFICATION

The grapes are hand-picked during the first weeks of March and get aged in French oak barrels. Its aging it’s divided between seven months of French oak barrels of second and third use, and seven months in concrete eggs to keep the freshness.

RIESLING

TASTING NOTES

Elegant, mineral and with excellent typicity, this Riesling has a firm texture and aromas of hydrocarbons typical of the variety.

VINIFICATION

The grapes are hand-picked during the day time, at the end of March. A very careful, protective destemming and pressing process is carried out. 40% is fermented in second-use French oak barrels and the rest is fermented in well-protected stainless-steel tanks to maintain aromatic freshness. The two styles are then mixed and bottled.

A sequence of natural happenings at 1350 mts above sea level in the Tupungato district are the ones that made Gualtallary so unique and special. A magnificent region due to its history, which is born from a failure of nature, raising a hill just at the end west of our vineyard. This hill diverted a river and preserved this area from floods and, with time, transformed into a privileged area for the creation of a selection of outstanding varietals.
